Brightway has recalled select cordless stick vacuums because the removable lithium-ion battery can overheat while charging.
What was recalled
The recall involves Brightway Glide V2 cordless stick vacuums with removable battery pack model BW-BP22.
Products and models affected
- Brightway Glide V2 (model BW-GV2)
- Battery pack model BW-BP22
- Serial numbers beginning GV2-24 and GV2-25
The serial number is printed on the battery pack and inside the dust bin door.
Why it was recalled
The battery management board can fail during charging, causing the cells to overheat. Brightway has received 18 reports of overheating and 3 reports of minor property damage.
What you should do
Stop charging the vacuum, remove the battery pack, and store it away from flammable materials until you receive a replacement.
Reimbursement
Owners who already bought a replacement battery can claim a reimbursement of up to $45 with proof of purchase. Everyone else receives a free replacement battery pack shipped directly to them.
