Why Were They Recalled?

The recalled cleaners may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

CPSC says people with weakened immune systems or external medical devices can face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment. The bacteria can enter the body if inhaled, through the eyes or through a break in the skin.

People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected.

What Should Consumers Do?

Stop using an affected cleaner immediately.

Before throwing the bottle away, record the UPC and date code. CPSC instructs consumers seeking a refund to submit a photo of the UPC printed on the label and a photo of the date code printed on the side of the bottle.

After submitting the recall information, dispose of the product in its container with household trash.

Refund Information

Clorox is offering a full refund for recalled bottles. With a receipt, the refund is based on the purchase price. Without a receipt, CPSC says the refund is based on the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Clorox says approved refunds are issued by check and cover the product cost plus approximate tax. The company says checks should arrive about 4 to 6 weeks after the refund request is processed.

Refund requests can be submitted through the official Mistolin and Lestoil recall website or through the official online refund form.

For recall questions, call 855-215-5439 or email [email protected].

Where Were the Cleaners Sold?

In Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, CPSC lists Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco, Supermercados Econo, Supermercados Selecto and other major retailers among the sellers.

The recalled products sold for about $1.40 to $8.

If You Already Used the Cleaner

If you develop a health problem after using an affected product, Clorox says to seek immediate medical attention.

Consumers can also call 855-215-5439 to be connected with a Medical Information Consultant regarding a possible adverse reaction.
