Consumers who bought certain Gotham Steel, Granite Stone, or Bell & Howell cookware in California or Colorado may be eligible for a cash payment from a class action settlement with E. Mishan & Sons Inc.
Who Can File a Claim?
You may qualify if you:
- Bought one or more Gotham Steel, Granite Stone, or Bell & Howell cookware products with stainless steel components.
- Made the purchase in California or Colorado.
- Bought the cookware between September 8, 2021, and July 6, 2026.
- Bought it for personal use rather than resale.
Eligible cookware includes skillets, frying pans, sauté pans, pasta pots, stock pots, saucepans, griddles, grill pans, and cookware sets with stainless steel components.
Only one claim form per household may be submitted. Receiving a settlement notice is not required to file a claim.
How Much Can You Get?
Approved claimants can receive:
- $6 for one eligible product
- $12 for two or more eligible products
Compensation is limited to two products per household.
The settlement also requires E. Mishan & Sons to add disclosures stating that covered products contain iron, chromium, and nickel to product labels and online product information.
Do You Need Proof of Purchase?
You do not need to submit a receipt or other purchase documentation with your initial claim.
The claim form asks for:
- The product purchased
- Whether it was purchased in California or Colorado
- The approximate purchase date
- The number of products purchased
Claimants must certify under penalty of perjury that the information provided is accurate. The settlement administrator may request additional information before approving a claim.
A Notice ID is not required.

The final approval hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside. The date may change, so class members should check the official settlement website for updates.
When Will Settlement Payments Be Sent?
There is no guaranteed payment date.
Payments will be issued only after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved. Under the settlement agreement, approved payments are to be issued within 21 calendar days after the settlement becomes effective.

Why Is There a Cookware Class Action Settlement?
The lawsuit alleged that E. Mishan & Sons marketed certain Gotham Steel, Granite Stone, and Bell & Howell cookware using claims such as healthy, non-toxic, and safe without adequately disclosing the presence of substances including chromium, iron, nickel, lead, cadmium, PFOA, PFAS, PTFE, or PFOS.
The plaintiffs claimed the marketing violated California and Colorado consumer protection, false advertising, warranty, and related laws.
The lawsuit does not allege that the cookware caused physical or personal injuries.
E. Mishan & Sons denies wrongdoing or liability, and the court has not ruled that the company violated the law. The parties agreed to settle rather than continue litigating the case.
