What Was Recalled?
Honda is recalling certain Odyssey minivans because the rearview camera can stop showing an image when the vehicle is in reverse.
Honda Motor Co. was founded in Japan in 1948 and began U.S. operations in 1959. American Honda now sells Honda and Acura vehicles, along with motorcycles and other products, across the United States.
Which Vehicles Are Affected?

Not every 2018 through 2020 Odyssey is included. Honda identified the affected population using manufacturing records and estimates that about 0.8% of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect.
Why Was It Recalled?
Honda found that stress around a mounting screw can crack part of the camera housing. Temperature changes and freezing water can expand those cracks, allowing moisture into the camera and eventually damaging its electronics.
When that happens, the rearview image may not appear after the Odyssey is shifted into reverse. The recall also addresses noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111 for rear visibility.
As of June 25, 2026, Honda had received 1,648 warranty claims related to the problem. No injuries or deaths had been reported.
What Should Owners Do?
- Schedule the free repair if your VIN shows that your Odyssey is included.
- If the rearview image disappears before the repair, use your mirrors and physically check behind the vehicle before reversing.
Honda’s filing says owner notification is scheduled to begin on or about August 24, 2026, but owners can check their vehicles before the letters arrive.
Refund, Replacement or Repair Information
The recall repair consists of replacing the affected rearview camera free of charge.
Honda is using a different camera this time. The earlier cameras were supplied by Magna, while the new replacement is made by Sony.
Honda’s filing says the company will use its general recall reimbursement plan. If you previously paid out of pocket for a rearview-camera repair that may be related to this problem, keep your invoice and ask Honda whether the expense qualifies. The Part 573 filing does not give campaign-specific reimbursement requirements.

Why Is Honda Recalling Some Odysseys Again?
This is not the first recall for the problem. Honda previously recalled Odyssey minivans for rearview-camera failures in 2020 under NHTSA campaign 20V438.
Honda later received a report of the problem in a vehicle that had already received the earlier repair. The company continued investigating and ultimately issued this new recall.
The new campaign includes vehicles from the earlier recall as well as certain 2018 Odyssey minivans that had been covered by a separate product update.
How to Check If Your Odyssey Is Included
Use the Honda recall lookup or NHTSA recall search and enter your 17-character VIN.
You can usually find the VIN at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side, on the driver’s door jamb, on the vehicle registration or on your insurance documents.
What If the Camera Already Failed?
If the rearview image fails to appear when you shift into reverse, contact an authorized Honda dealer. The NHTSA filing does not carry a “Do Not Drive” advisory.
How to Report a Problem
If your Odyssey has experienced a rearview-camera failure or another safety problem, you can file a complaint through NHTSA’s Report a Safety Problem page.
Include your VIN, mileage and a clear description of what happened, including whether a crash or injury occurred. NHTSA also accepts vehicle-safety complaints by phone at 888-327-4236.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the recall repair take?
Honda’s NHTSA filing does not give a repair-time estimate. Contact the dealer when scheduling the appointment and ask how long the camera replacement is expected to take.
What if I bought my Odyssey used?
A used Odyssey can still have an open safety recall. Check the VIN to see whether the repair is outstanding; NHTSA says vehicle recalls do not expire.
